Earl is the Chief Operating Officer at the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC). NBJC was founded in December 2003 with a mission to empower Black same-gender-loving, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people; NBJC works with our communities and our allies for social justice, equality, and an end to racism and homophobia. Earl chiefly is responsible for raising its annual budget of $1.35 million through individual donors, foundations, corporations, government and special events; his purview also includes the agency’s finances, technology, infrastructure and human resources. Prior to NBJC, Mr. Plante worked for the Maine Won’t Discriminate Campaign as their House Party Director, the Empire State Pride Agenda as Communications Director, Funders Concerned About AIDS as their Director of Finance and Administration, and with Gay Men of African Descent, Union Settlement Association, and the National Minority AIDS Council as Development Director. Earl received a history degree in 1995 from Dartmouth College and has sought a career in the arena of social and economic justice and civil rights. His passion for this progressive work stems from his belief in the power of grassroots organizing to mobilize and educate people to make positive changes in public policy. Earl was also Board President of the Bronx Community Pride Center; Board President of the National Black Justice Coalition; Board President of New Festival, New York City’s LGBT Film Festival; and was a Founding Board Member of the Queer Economic Justice Network. |
