OIT / SMYAL Free-at-Five Youth Screenings

Free at Five films
Supported by a new grant from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, One In Ten's Free at Five programs promise to provide some of the most unique points of view to be found anywhere in the Fall Festival.
Free at Five is geared toward LGBT youth, with free films and events by, for, and about youth. And for the first time, OIT and SMYAL (Washington's Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League) have collaborated on the Free at Five program. All of the films were selected by SMYAL youth and all deal with issues LGBTQ youth face — from school bullying and hate crimes to sexism and racism in the LGBTQ community.
Two of our Free at Five screenings include special events.
  • Saturday, October 18, after the Sakia Gunn Story, SMYAL is presenting an all youth panel on violence and discrimination against LGBTQ youth.
  • Friday, October 24, after the screening of Ready? Ok! and Tomboy, youth can meet and socialize at the Free-at-Five after-party
