TELLING THE STORIES OF GLBT LIVES

One In Ten
Mission Statement

One In Ten is dedicated to education and cultural activism on behalf of gay and lesbian people. One In Ten seeks to nurture the aesthetics, consciousness, and cultural legacy of this community.

One In Ten is a non-profit 501(c)(3) membership-based organization. One In Ten is non-partisan, non-sectarian, and respects the diversity of backgrounds and ideologies of members of the gay and lesbian community.

One In Ten was founded in 1991 at the same time we began our first program, the Reel Affirmations International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

Since then, our programs have grown to include a companion Pride Film Festival, nights of live comed, educational museum-based programs, a grant program to support filmmakers, and collaborations with other arts organizations to tell the stories of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community.

Through the arts, One In Ten works to build community among GLBT people – fostering a sense of belonging by bringing our stories – our struggles and accomplishments – to life on the stage, screen, and page.
