| Opening
Night Film | A packed Lincoln Theatre
More than
1,200 patrons kicked off Reel
Affirmations 16 Thursday,
Oct. 12, and gave Shortbus a
rousing welcome to Washington, D.C. The daring film, by John
Cameron Mitchell, evoked laughter and some tears as its characters
searched for meaningful, intimate connections in post-911 New
York. Shortbus actors Jay
Brannan and Peter
Stickles, answering audience questions after the
screening, described a years-long development cycle that bared
their souls, among other things. As for some unresolved character
arcs, maybe there should be a sequel to tie things
up, they said. The audience applauded its approval.
