Featuring an all-star cast including Woody Harrelson, Lily Tomlin, Kristin Scott Thomas, Mary Beth Hurt, and Lauren Bacall, The Walker is a political thriller containing the back-stabbing, political infighting and dry wit only a DC setting can provide. Gay, southern-bred, and genteel to a fault, Carter Page III (Harrelson) is a walker, a contemporary throwback to a bygone era when gay men accompanied their lady friends to various benefits and high-society functions. These ladies’ husbands, busy in their Senate and Congressional offices, have no desire to bother themselves with such high culture, which means that Carter has a steady stream of night-time engagements. During the day, Page and his lady friends play canasta while cattily dishing on the gossip of the night before. Soon, idle gossip turns to outright scandal as Lynn, the wife of a liberal senator, discovers the dead body of her lover. Determined to keep their affair secret (from her husband AND his constituents) she turns to Carter for help. In order to protect Lynn, Carter claims that he found the corpse. His friendly gesture brings down an avalanche of accusations from arch-conservative state attorney Mungo Tenant, who vengefully pins the murder on Carter. Suddenly, Carter’s languid life of lunching with the ladies and shopping for upholstery becomes a web of intrigue, allegations and rumor. The good-natured Senator’s son, who had always dubbed himself superficial and the black sheep of the family, finds himself obliged to take on the good fight—more so when his friends—fearing the ever-widening scandal, begin to close their doors to him. Carter and his boyfriend Emek have to make use of all their contacts in order to find out who is behind the mystery of the dead man.
